শ্রীকৃষ্ণ কিঙ্কর আঠারো শতকের কবি। কবির আদি নিবাস মেদিনীপুর জেলার দাসপুর থানাধীন খেপুত নামক গ্রামে। বর্ধমানের জমিদার চিত্র সেন রায়ের শাসনকালে (১৭৪০-৪৪) কবি শ্রীকৃষ্ণ কিঙ্কর ‘লক্ষ্মী সরস্বতী’ নামক কাব্য রচনা করেন পয়ার ছন্দে (৫৮ লাইনে)। এতে রয়েছে ৫০ রকমের ধানের নামোল্লেখ। লক্ষ্মীদেবীর বিভিন্ন অঙ্গ হলো বিভিন্ন প্রকার ধানের উৎপত্তিস্থল।

কবি শ্রীকৃষ্ণ কিঙ্করের “লক্ষ্মী সরস্বতী” কাব্যে ৫০ প্রকার ধানের নামোল্লেখের মধ্যে “লীলাবতী” ধানের উল্লেখ পাওয়া যায়, যা লক্ষ্মীদেবীর ললাট থেকে উৎপন্ন বলে বর্ণিত হয়েছে।

এটি প্রমাণ করে যে লীলাবতী ধান কমপক্ষে আঠারো শতক থেকেই পরিচিত ছিল, এবং এটি বাংলার একসময়ের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ও পবিত্র ধানের একটি প্রজাতি। মেদিনীপুর ও বর্ধমান অঞ্চলের সঙ্গে এর ঐতিহাসিক সংযোগও উঠে আসে।

এই চাল জৈব চাষের দ্বারা উৎপন্ন। উৎপাদকদের পক্ষ থেকে কোনোরকম কীটনাশক বা ক্যামিক্যাল সার এই ফসল উৎপন্ন করতে ব্যবহার করা হয়নি।

Lilaboti rice is mentioned in the 18th-century poet Shri Krishna Kinkar’s literary work Lakshmi Saraswati. The poet, originally from Kheput village in Daspur police station, Medinipur district, composed this poem in Payar meter (58 lines) during the rule of Burdwan’s zamindar Chitra Sen Ray (1740-44). The poem lists 50 different varieties of rice, describing them as originating from different parts of Goddess Lakshmi’s body.

Among these, Lilaboti rice is specifically mentioned as having originated from the forehead of Goddess Lakshmi. This reference establishes that Lilaboti rice has been known since at least the 18th century and was once a sacred and significant variety of rice in Bengal. The historical connection to Medinipur and Burdwan highlights its regional importance.

This rice is cultivated through organic farming methods. No pesticides or chemical fertilizers are used in its production, ensuring its purity and natural quality.
