‘Dadkani’ is an exceptional variety of rice. The name ‘Dadkani’ originated from the time of the last independent Sultan of Bengal, Sultan Da’ud Khan (1573-1576 AD). In his reign, the cultivation of this rice began in Bengal, and it gained significant popularity in the Sultan’s court. Sultan Da’ud Khan himself had a preference for this rice, and it was a staple on his dining table. As a result, it came to be known as ‘Da’udkhani’ rice, which later evolved into ‘Dadkani’ rice.
